Mongolia suspends army recruitments in UB and border provinces www.news.mn
The National Emergency Commission has decided to suspend army recruitment in the border provinces, namely, Selenge, Dornogobi, Bayan-Ulgii provinces as well as the capital, Ulaanbaatar. Defence Minister N.Enkbold announced on 9 April that the decision is aimed at ensuring border control and isolation measures to prevent the coronavirus outbreak.
In the other Mongolian provinces, army recruitment will be conducted under conditions of advanced emergency readiness for avoiding gatherings and mass transportation.
Furthermore, the Student-Soldier programme has been cancelled for this year. The programme was launched in 2014 at the initiative of the then President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces Ts.Elbegdorj. Since then, over 6000 students have participated in the programme.
