Analysis of key destination markets for Mongolian meat exporters
Meat exports play an important role in Mongolia’s economy. However, due to several constraints that hinder export growth, Mongolia cannot export its agricultural products to its full capacity.
One of the main challenges for Mongolian meat exporters is to identify key destination markets for their products and know how to access them. Examining the conditions to access these markets of interest would thus help strengthen the export capacity of Mongolian meat exporters.
From this perspective, this report analyses consumer preferences, trends, distribution channels, logistics and transportation options for the selected potential markets for Mongolia’s meat exports, namely China, Japan, Viet Nam, the Russian Federation, and Kazakhstan.
New Zealand's second-largest export is meat, the country's largest industry, employing 25,000 people in more than 60 locations. New Zealand is smaller than Mongolia in both livestock numbers and territory. However, in 2020, $ 9.2 billion worth of mutton and beef were exported to 111 countries, which is more than Mongolia's mining exports.
