Government to support private sector to import vaccines against COVID-19 www.montsame.mn
Deputy Prime Minister S.Amarsaikhan has held a meeting with representatives from national pharmaceutical supplier companies, such as Monos Trade, Mongol Em Impex Concern and Ach Ur.
While noting the importance of public-private partnership in intensifying the COVID-19 vaccination, the Deputy Prime Minister pledge to provide all necessary support to acquire vaccines without delay.
It was also informed at the meeting that Monos Trade and Mongol Em Impex Concern have delivered their official requests for authorization to the Ministry of Health to import AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines.
The companies’ representatives also asked to take notice of the rising transportation costs due to restrictions of direct flights and pledged their readiness to cooperate with the government in every possible area, complying with the government decisions to protect the health and safety of the population.
According to the cabinet secretariat, the private companies will import vaccines against COVID-19 on the basis of risk assessment study within the framework of the government policies.
Yesterday, March 8, Deputy PM Amarsaikhan assured that Mongolia will fully vaccinate its adult population by July 1, 2021 and the ongoing vaccination program in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar will be sped up from March 9 and around 16,000-20,000 people will receive their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine at 85 locations, instead of 20.
In addition, officials from the Ministry of Health informed that as of March 8, there are reserves of 460,000 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 available in Mongolia, including 150,000 doses of AstraZeneca, 300,000 doses of Sinopharm and 10,000 doses of Sputnik-V. Government ministries are working and holding talks with foreign countries to receive more vaccines, according to the Ministry.
