Ampcontrol is proud to be providing and supporting the electrical infrastructure for the underground operation at the Rio Tinto Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia austmine.com.au
Oyu Tolgoi is one of the largest undeveloped copper reserves worldwide with a series of deposits containing copper, gold and silver. An open pit has been in operation since 2012.
To reach the mines greatest value, operations are now moving underground to develop a large block-caving operation. 14km of lateral tunnels have already been constructed with 200km of tunnels at a depth of up to 1300m to be built overtime.
Ampcontrol is supplying a full range of electrical equipment to power the mine including jumbo, pump and fan starters, substations and distribution control boards. We’re also providing a range of electronic monitoring equipment including iMAC conveyor control equipment which will monitor a 10km underground conveyor network.
As the major electrical supplier we know that our products are vital to supporting Oyu Tolgoi’s safety first commitment.
“Our quality is someone else’s safety, so we take that very seriously. We do a lot of work around Australian and international standards to ensure our products are of the highest quality and to the highest safety levels” said Rod Henderson Ampcontrol CEO/MD.
