Mongolia Jan coal exports up 28.81% MoM www.sxcoal.com
Coal-rich Mongolia exported 3.63 million tonnes of coal in January, up 28.81% from December and 38.13% from the year-ago level, showed data from the Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia.
Exports of washed coking coal decreased 22.94% from a month earlier to 227,400 tonnes in January, and that of raw coking coal up 83.78% month on month to 1.46 million tonnes.
The country exported 935,100 tonnes of thermal coal in the month, flat month on month.
In the month, Mongolia produced 3.84 million tonnes of coal, down 29.23% year on year but up 8.3% from the preceding month.
In 2017, the country's coal output increased by 32.72% from 2016 to 47.10 million tonnes.
In January, Mongolia sold a total of 4.31 million tonnes of coal, rising 25.26% from the month-ago level, with domestic sales rising 46.9% from December to 680,100 tonnes.
