Relationship between Mongolia and Russia to scale up www.zgm.mn
President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will pay an official visit to Mongolia on September 3, 2019, at the invitation of President of Mongolia Battulga Khaltmaa. During the visit, Mongolia will declare a comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. This is the Russian President’s fourth visit to Mongolia.
This visit is marked by the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Khalkh River Battle, which has a historical significance for the two countries. Grand ceremonies for the anniversary will take place during the visit
Also, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited President Battulga to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War in Red Square on May 2020.
President Putin initially made a state visit to Mongolia in 2000, opening a new page in the relations between Mongolia and Russia. During the visit, the “Ulaanbaatar Declaration” was approved, and the main objectives of multilateraI cooperation were identified.
In 2009, President Dmitry Medvedev officially confirmed Mongolia’s “Declaration on the Development of Strategic Partnership” and strengthened bilateral relations based on strategic partnerships.
The two countries extended the strategic partnership in 2014. Russian President Vladimir Putin made a working visit to Mongolia on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Khalkh River Battle. The visit continued for only six hours but was very effective, signing 15 agreements between governments, agencies, and businesses .
In 2016, Mongolia and Russia adopted the Medium-Term Program for Strategic Partnerships. Mongolia has also initiated the tripartite mechanism of Russian-MongoliaChina and discussed the program on Economic Corridors in three ways, which is concerted action in solving various problems facing Mongolia and Russia.
