200-bed model hospital to be commissioned in first quarter www.montsame.mn
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In January 13, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and delegates of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) got acquainted with construction progress of a general model hospital, which is being built in Songinokhairkhan district with financing from the ADB. With capacity of serving for 157 thousand citizens of the district, the model hospital is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of this year.
“The Parliament approved the Law on Medical Assistance and Service in 2016 and it reflected to enhance activities of general hospitals of districts and aimags and secondary level regional diagnostic centers and develop them as model hospitals. The first model hospital is under construction in Songinokhairkhan district and the other hospitals will be erected in Khan-Uul and Chingeltei districts. Favorable conditions will be created for citizens to receive third level medical assistance and services from their residing districts thanks to the model hospitals. Moreover, model hospitals will be established in remote aimags within the framework of a project ‘Development Program for Health Sector-6’. A total of six hospitals will be built in Ulaanbaatar city and in soums of 10 aimags," said Health Minister D.Sarangerel.
Engineers of Vamed Engineering Company noted that each room of the hospital, which is being constructed under European standard, will be provided with all the necessary items such as internet and shower.
With funding of the Asian Development Bank, projects worth USD 135.4 million have been realized in health sector of Mongolia since 1993.
