Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Cabinet today discussed an issue of building the second factory for refined coal briquettes in Ulaanbaatar city.
Energy Minister Ts.Davaasuren informed that the 600 thousand ton-capacity factory will be built in the eastern area of Ulaanbaatar city, to be completed by August 15. “The new factory will be put into full operation, producing refined coal from September 15, 2020”
The Energy Minister pointed out the demand to supply refined coal briquettes to settlement areas sprawling around the capital city affected by air pollution have been growing.
In March 2019, the Government imposed ban on raw coal consumption in Ulaanbaatar city as an effort to tackle air pollution.
‘Tavan Tolgoi Fuel’ state-run company with an annual output capacity of 700 thousand tons of refined energy coal from the Ukhaa Khudag coal mine has been making supply to the capital city since last year.
