Mongolia records 1,178 new COVID-19 cases www.xinhuanet.com
Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia recorded 1,178 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 169,851, the country's health ministry said Thursday.
The latest confirmed cases were all locally transmitted, the ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, three more fatalities were reported in the past day, taking the national total to 863.
Of the deaths, 836 were directly related to COVID-19, and the remaining ones were related to the combination of the virus and other underlying medical conditions, according to the ministry.
The Asian country launched a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign in late February, aiming to cover at least 60 percent of its population of 3.3 million.
So far, 61.3 percent of the country's total population have been fully vaccinated.
