Signing and Exchange of Notes on “the Economic and Social Development Programme” to Mongolia www.mofa.go.jp
On March 4, 2025, in Tokyo, H.E. Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and H.E. Ms. Batmunkh Battsetseg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia signed and exchanged notes concerning two grant aid projects for the Economic and Social Development Programme.The outline of each project is as follows:
1. Grant Aid for the Provision of Equipment for Monitoring Air Pollution “the Economic and Social Development Programme” (275 million yen)
In Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, air pollution from sources such as thermal power plants, coal stoves in ger districts, and yellow sand is a serious problem, and there are concerns about its impact on the health of the city's residents. This project will provide air pollution measurement equipment to provide citizens with appropriate air pollution information.
2. Grant Aid for the Provision of Sewerage Management Equipment “the Economic and Social Development Programme” (270 million yen)
Since the city of Ulaanbaatar is required to maintain stable urban functions,this project will provide related equipment to improve the sewerage system.
