Mongolia's central bank has purchased a total of 3.3 tons of gold from legal entities and individuals since the beginning of 2025, local media reported on Tuesday, citing a statement released by the bank.
The figure decreased by 22.1 percent compared with the same period of 2024, the bank said.
As of April, the average price of gold purchased by the Bank of Mongolia was 364,736.61 Mongolian tugriks (approximately 102 U.S. dollars) per gram.
Purchasing gold is one of the key ways for the central bank to ensure the country's economic stability by consistently increasing foreign currency reserves, said the bank.
According to the regulator, Mongolia's foreign exchange reserves stood at 5.135 billion dollars by the end of April 2025.
