Eighth pillar of cable car system installed www.gogo.mn
Construction of a new cable car system on the Yarmag–Kharkhorin route, designed to ease traffic in the western and southern parts of the capital, is progressing steadily. The Construction work began in March, 2025 and the project is scheduled to enter full operation in October, 2026. Officials expect the system to carry about 18% of traffic along this corridor when complete.
The first line will run through the Yarmag–Artsat–Unur area, with a second line planned toward the National Park–National Amusement Park direction. Construction of the first line is proceeding on schedule: pillar installation and station construction are under way, and today the eighth pillar was installed. The project calls for a total of 19 pillars.
Concrete pouring for the project is due to finish by October 30. Once the foundations are complete and have passed a 28-day curing period, the metal superstructure can be erected quickly, engineers estimate the metal sections can be installed within two days per span. As of today the foundations are 75% complete, and installation of all support towers is scheduled to finish in November.
Work on systems and interiors, plumbing, heating, ventilation, fit-out of reception buildings, and communications and signaling, is planned to begin in January, 2026.
