Under UN Security Council Resolution 2793 (2025), a contingent of the Mongolian Armed Forces has arrived in Port-au-Prince, the capital of the Republic of Haiti, to take part in the UN-supported Gang Suppression Force operation. The contingent has been deployed to the Vertières military base.

The operation’s headquarters personnel arrived in Haiti in May 2026 and began work on planning and strategic assessments, preparing to receive international military contingents, and coordinating special military operations. On August 25, the main contingent of the Mongolian Armed Forces officially arrived in the area of operations. Mongolian servicemembers will carry out their duties alongside military personnel from El Salvador, Guatemala, Chad, Jamaica and Sri Lanka.

The deployment marks the first time the Mongolian Armed Forces have undertaken duties in the Western Hemisphere. In more than two decades of participation in peace support and international operations, this is also the geographically most distant region from Mongolia in which Mongolian servicemembers have been deployed. The mission reflects Mongolia’s expanding contribution and reach in efforts to maintain international peace and security.
