UN Secretary-General meets Mongolian Prime Minister www.news.mn
UN Secretary-General Antonio" UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has held a meeting with J.Erdenebat, Prime Minister of Mongolia on sidelines of meeting of the ‘Belt and Road’ International Cooperation" Road’ International Cooperation Forum which has just been held in China. As a person who loves history, Antonio Guterres noted that the original ‘Belt and Road’ initiative was decisively established by the Mongolians of the past. Antonio Guterres said: ‘Mongolian UN relations are good and we will continue to support Mongolia further. Especially, the UN will cooperate with Mongolia on disaster relief and in preventing natural disaster.’
J.Erdenebat invitedthe UN Secretary-General to visit Mongolia for the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) which will be held in 2018. Mongolia has sent more than 15 thousand soldiers on UN peacekeeping missions since 2002. Mongolian peacekeepers have been awarded for their actions by the UN several times. Mr. J.Erdenebat requested the UN Secretary-General to increase the number of Mongolian women peacekeepers and send a women's battalion.
The Mongolian Prime Minister has become the first world leader to have met Antonio Guterres since the latter was appointed as UN Secretary-General.
