Nonsan agricultural product expands exports to Mongolia www.koreapost.com
Nonsan City is accelerating efforts to expand overseas markets for its agricultural and food products, marking a significant step toward building sustainable export channels in Mongolia.
On January 22, Nonsan City signed business agreements with six major Mongolian distribution companies at the Chinggis Khaan Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, aiming to boost exports of locally produced agri-food products.
Under the agreement, key agricultural products—including strawberries and grapes produced in Nonsan—will be supplied to the Mongolian market from 2026 through 2028. The total value of the agreement amounts to USD 700,000 (approximately KRW 1 billion).
Both sides agreed to expand exports across a wide range of Nonsan agricultural products, including fresh produce and processed foods, while establishing a stable supply system linked to local distribution networks in Mongolia. They also plan to pursue phased, mid- to long-term cooperation strategies to ensure sustained growth in exports.
Nonsan Mayor Baek Sung-hyun said the agreement represents “an important starting point for Nonsan agri-food products to secure a stable foothold in the Mongolian market and lay the foundation for sustainable export growth.”
“Moving forward, we will continue to actively explore overseas markets with high-quality agri-food products, while strengthening export competitiveness and increasing income for local farmers,” he added.
A representative of the Orgil Group, a leading Mongolian distributor, said Nonsan agri-food products have strong competitiveness in terms of quality and safety. “Through this agreement, we will actively cooperate across the distribution process to help Nonsan agricultural products establish themselves as a trusted brand among Mongolian consumers,” the representative said.
