COP17 Venue Landscaping 90% Complete www.montsame.mn
Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sandag-Ochir Tsend, Deputy Minister Munkhtamir Batbayar and State Secretary Batbayar Shurenchuluun inspected the progress of evening shift at the COP17 venue development site.
The site workers are currently operating in two shifts on an overtime schedule. They plan to continue working full hours through the National Naadam Festival holidays to ensure all scheduled tasks are completed on time. As of today, exterior landscaping is over 90% complete, while interior finishing work is progressing according to schedule. A total of 12 temporary facilities are being built for the conference, and they are scheduled to be fully completed and handed over, along with the surrounding landscaping, by August 6, 2026.
As part of the landscaping, a total of 12 hectares of land have been turfed with grass, and more than 4,800 shrubs and bushes have been planted.
Following his inspection, Minister of Environment and Climate Sandag-Ochir ordered the relevant organizations to complete and hand over the construction work strictly on schedule while fully ensuring quality and safety standards, according to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Mongolia will host the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Ulaanbaatar from August 17-28, 2026.
