Center for Mongolian Studies Founded in Estonia www.montsame.mn
The Center for Mongolian Studies opened in the Eastern Studies Department of the University of Tartu, which is the oldest and most prestigious university in the Republic of Estonia on March 24.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador T. Janabazar, Rector of the University of Tartu Toomas Asser, Honorary Consul of Mongolia in Estonia Leizi Karindi, Chairman of the National Council for Mongolian Studies; Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the National University of Mongolia D. Zayabaatar, and President of the International Association for Mongol Studies Agnes Birtalan.
Ambassador T. Janabazar handed over 100 books and research materials, donated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, to the Head of the Center for Mongolian Studies Alevtina Solovyova, and pledged to support and closely cooperate with the Center.
During the opening ceremony, an international Multidisciplinary Conference – “The Mongols: Tradition and Modernity” was held at the Senate Hall, University of Tartu on March 24-26. The conference was dedicated to Mongolian communities and their neighbors facing global and local challenges: strategies, responses, and perspectives.
