Government debt repayment equals MNT 1.5 trillion in 2019 www.zgm.mn
In the framework of the Government’s plan to limit debt burden, it has improved its budget discipline and paid MNT 1.5 trillion in debt in 2019, without obtaining loans at commercially high-interest rates.The government debt reached 55 percent of GDP, the lowest lev-el since 2016. The total of MNT eight trillion has been paid to debt since the current cabinet led by Khurelsukh Ukhnaa was estab-lished. Thus, the parliament approved a strategic document outlining the objectives and methods to reduce the debt burden on the govern-ment. As a result, the debt burden is expected to decrease and reach 40 percent of the GDP by 2022.
