Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President of Mongolia, will attend the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the United States.

The 2026 General Debate is being held under the theme, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.” The General Debate of the 81st session will take place from September 22 to 28 at the UN Headquarters in New York. 

President Khurelsukh is scheduled to address the General Debate, where he will present Mongolia’s position on pressing issues in international relations. He is also expected to meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the heads of state of several countries.

During his visit, President Khurelsukh will also meet with representatives of Mongolian citizens living in the central United States in Chicago.

A total of 133 heads of state and government have announced their participation in the General Debate of the 81st session.

Mongolia joined the United Nations on October 27, 1961, as its 101st member. Since then, Mongolia has actively cooperated with the UN on a wide range of issues, including promoting regional and international peace and security, protecting the interests of landlocked developing countries, and contributing to UN peacekeeping operations.

The United Nations was founded in 1945 in San Francisco, the United States, with 51 founding members. It now has 193 Member States.
